Roughly 18 years ago, my mother purchased a KitchenAid Mixer for my wife as a present. Within the past year, that KitchenAid has started to sound old. It’s almost like the bearings are starting to go but, don’t get me wrong, it’s still working great! It just doesn’t sound too great.
So, this Christmas I said to my wife to go out and get herself a brand new mixer. She basically told me “I’m not getting rid of that until it dies!” That’s a typical response from my wife since she doesn’t like to blow money on needless items. In the back of my mind I was thinking that if my wife purchased a new mixer, the old one could go to our daughter who is also into making breads of all types and basically loves to bake.
She has been living with us for the past 3 months and there isn’t one day that goes by when she isn’t baking something and it oftentimes involves utilizing the KitchenAid mixer. She is also leaving within a week to another state where she’ll be living in an apartment and student teaching for the next few months. After that, she’ll be looking for a full-time teaching job. So, to be perfectly honest, it’s certainly great timing for us to get a new mixer and for my daughter to inherit the 18-year old model.

So, a few days ago my wife went out and got a great buy on a KitchenAid Artisan 5-Quart Stand Mixer and she’s been using it every day. She was able to thoroughly clean the old white model (seen below) for my daughter and it fit perfectly in the box that the new mixer came in. It just goes to show you that in 18 years the KitchenAid mixer dimensions haven’t changed much. I said to my wife “Why mess with a great thing?” She concurred and she is just loving the new mixer. She found that the Artisan model was the perfect size to fit under our cabinets on our kitchen counter.
